To compliment the chiropractic manipulation of a joint and to further aid in a patients recovery a therapeutic modality may be introduced. These therapies increase recovery by decreasing inflammation aiding in the efficiency of joint movement.

Our Therapies.

Spinal Decompression

Spinal decompression is a nonsurgical means of relieving pain to articulating spinal segment including vertebral disc, and facets. This therapy is ideal for people who have sciatica, radiculopathy, neuropathy, or many other forms of numbness and tingling into their arms and legs. If it is determined that your symptoms are related to compression or irritation to a nerve, spinal decompression may be the answer.

There are many forms of spinal decompression being offered. We use a Chattanooga Triton DTS table at our office. This table consist of multiple adjustable table segments attached to a computerized pulley system that offers, a controlled amount of forces applied to a specific region of the spine. Our table allows us to perform spinal decompression in various positions to affect the different spinal segments of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. The position used will be determined by the doctor during the initial examination and will be adjusted according to progress.

Assisted Static and
Dynamic Stretching (ASD)

The Assisted Static and Dynamic Stretch is a stretching protocol used by Dr. Bethea to assist a patient's performance, rather they are a high performing athlete preparing for a game or an ordinary person preparing for their activities of daily living. The patient is taken through a series of stretching that includes forces applied by the doctor even to the resistance applied by the patient with the joint held in a static position. This is usually in a range of motion that is painful to the patient. The joint is then stretched throughout its full range of motion with varying degrees of resistance being applied to it until a client demonstrates reduced or complete pain free range of motion.

Ultrasound Therapy

Ultrasound therapy uses high-energy sound waves (those above the range we hear) to help ease painful joints and muscles. The sound waves are used to penetrate into muscles and joints causing heat and vibration of molecules which speeds up the healing process by breaking up fibrotic adhesion or pushing fluid that escapes capillaries such as blood or lymph out of the areas of a joint improving range of motion.

The Activator

The Activator is a device used for those who prefer a more gentler form of adjustment. This instrument is often used on children or those suffering form diseases such as osteoporosis where there is excessive loss of bone density. It is also advantageous for people who suffer from conditions affecting the Temporal mandibular joint (TMJ).

Electrical Stimulation

Electrical Stimulation is a treatment that uses an electrical current to cause a single muscle or group of muscles to contract and relax at different frequencies. This continuous involuntary contraction and relaxation decreases muscle spasm decreasing pain and speeding up the healing process.

Rock Blade Therapy (IASTM)

Rock Blade Therapy is an example of an instrument assisted soft tissue modality used to break down fascial adhesions around tendons, ligaments, and joint capsules. We’ve gotten good results using this technique on football players, runners, MMA fighters, boxers and now we feel confident applying it to the everyday patient who may be suffering from a chronic joint condition. The therapy consists of a series of anatomically sculpted stainless steel pieces that have an edge on them. This edge is applied at the sight of the soft tissue and moved either with or against the muscle fiber's natural orientation causing the breakage of fibrotic adhesions.
